Nihil is a song about facing the intrusive thought that life is inherently meaningless and insignificant. I think we all sometimes question why we get up in the morning, only to distract ourselves from the thought and go on with our lives.
But what if I want a satisfying answer this time? If meaning was predetermined, wouldn't that just mean that I wouldn't be able to choose for myself? Fuck that. Maybe it is because that everything is inherently meaningless, that we can make anything meaningful.
Friends and family are meaningful to me. Music is meaningful to me. Even the mundane can be meaningful, like drinking coffee in the morning. Maybe life being inherently meaningless is good.
